Medical

Highland Engineering has a proven track record supporting critical medical missions for the Department of Defense. From rapid-response patient isolation systems to essential field hospital infrastructure and mortuary affairs, HEI delivers mission-ready medical solutions engineered for the most demanding environments.

At the start of COVID-19, HEI partnered with the USAF to design and manufacture the Negatively Pressurized Container (NPC) family of systems, enabling the safe aeromedical transport of patients with highly infectious diseases. The NPC-L is now fully certified for use across a broad spectrum of infectious disease scenarios, providing a critical capability for global patient movement operations.

HEI also manufactures key infrastructure for the USAF Expeditionary Medical Support (EMEDS) hospital system, including the Collectively Protected Expeditionary Latrine (CPEL) and Water Distribution System (WDS) — essential components that keep field medical facilities fully operational.

Beyond hospital support, Highland Engineering produces components for the Mass Personnel Decontamination System and the Contaminated Human Remains Decontamination System, supporting CBRN readiness across the force. Most recently, HEI has expanded into Mortuary Affairs, bringing our engineering expertise to yet another vital area of military medical support.
